Alphabet cooperates with First Climate
MUNICH 02/09/2014 - Today, sustainability is a priority for many companies. As a key player in the international fleet industry, Alphabet takes a responsible approach to the environment by developing effective ways to minimise fleet CO2 emissions and enhance corporate sustainability.
Alphabet has a holistic fleet sustainability strategy: avoid, reduce and compensate. For each of these aspects, the Business Mobility provider presents appropriate initiatives. Customers can avoid emissions by integrating electric vehicles into their fleets with Alphabet’s innovative eMobility solution AlphaElectric or by implementing AlphaCity, the economical Corporate CarSharing approach for company fleets. In the second step, Alphabet promotes reduced fleet emissions by consulting with customers on car policy or through the provision of eco driver training courses.
Now, thanks to a new international cooperation with First Climate – a global leader in carbon offsetting and water services – Alphabet is bringing a carbon compensation action plan into play in all markets: “Alphabet customers will have the option of offsetting their emissions through carbon-reduction certificates,” explains Carsten Kwirandt, Head of Marketing and Business Development at Alphabet International. “Money raised from the sale of certificates will be used to fund carbon-reducing projects throughout the world.” Participating Alphabet customers can choose the project they wish to support from a range of water, wind, solar or other ventures, while First Climate takes care of the entire handling process.
At a cost of approximately 1% of fuel outgoings, this compensation programme provides companies with an effective and hassle-free way of lowering their fleets’ carbon impact thereby contributing to the protection of the environment and improving their corporate sustainability profile.
